TLG Taps Expertise of the Next Generation During Agency’s 15th Annual Kids to Work Day


MINNEAPOLIS (August) - More than 25 young experts, ages 5 to 15, descended on The Lacek Group (TLG), a Minneapolis-based customer relations agency, to be loyalty marketers for the day during the firm’s annual “Kids to Work Day” held on July 29.

Celebrating its 15th year, TLG’s “Kids to Work Day” started with an agency breakfast and then a day full of accompanying their parents as they learned about all facets of the agency. The honorary TLGers attended meetings, interacted with their parents’ co-workers, sat in on conference calls and worked alongside mom or dad on the computer.

“I really liked the ‘traditional’ format for TLG’s Kids to Work Day this year because my 11-year old and 14-year old got to experience what a real-world work day is like for me,” said Jennifer Russo, Senior Art Director. “I made sure I had a few meetings planned, but mostly they watched me design stuff on the computer. While I think being an art director is pretty cool, they quickly discovered that they want jobs where they can move around more!”

Over the years, TLG’s “Kids to Work” days have featured other special events, such as a fundraising carnival to support the agency’s charitable giving initiatives.

“TLG’s annual ‘Kids to Work Day’ has become a summer tradition that the entire agency looks forward to,” said Chris Hoffman, Chief Talent Officer. “It’s a great day to enjoy the fresh and funny perspectives from a future generation of potential marketers.”

“Both of my children loved coming to work with me. In fact, my 7-year old daughter was so excited that she got up extra early to put on a special outfit,” said Chris Hill, Senior Copywriter. “Both kids had a lot of fun meeting my co-workers, enjoying the view from the 18th floor and playing with their ID badges.”

All of the young TLGers received backpacks with school supplies and an activity notebook, which helped during those long conference calls.
